burning sky

As I exited the dark, windowless cave that was my office on October 16, 2001, I was met by a truly spectacular sunset. I had never seen the sky look so odd. The sky seemed to burn like an intense flame. I couldn't let such a thing pass without recording it. I only wish I had taken more pictures.

This one was taken from the parking lot. I zoomed on one particularly interesting part of the sky overhead. The "burning" effect of the clouds is easily visible. The overall darkness of the image is due to the fact that I had forgotten to switch on the flash.

The redness was all across the sky, but was most prominent around the setting sun.

Even after turning 180° from the setting sun, the redness is still reflected on the clouds.

I took this shot after I arrived home. The swirls of color in the sky were a splendid thing to behold.
